Leather is the most comfortabl, after all it's skin on skin.... 😉 However lt will collapse under tension from a belt making reholstering difficult at best, dangerous at worst. Kydex is not the most comfortable but then again, neither is carrying a gun all day. I'm convinced that carrying a gun will not be comfortable, but will be comforting. A good kydex holster will not poke or pinch have smooth rounded edges. Two mounting points to prevent the gun from pivoting and keeping the draw stroke consistent.
So many good options out there. Our instructor favorites, are as follows.
IWB or in the waistband, T-Rex arms, Tier 1 Concealment.
OTWB or outside the waistband, Safariland, Blackhawk.
There are other great holster options out there. These 4 are our top 2 favorites from those two categories. We've seen hundreds of holsters come through classes and collectively have been issued and personally purchased boxes of holsters over the years.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. But please, make sure your holster doesn't allow access to the trigger, and make sure it doesnt get so soft and supple that you can press the trigger through the holster and or the holster presses the trigger for you. This picture is a great example of a holster that is no longer safe and resulted in the shooter, shooting themselves, as the holster pressed the trigger for them.
