Training Central Florida Since 2008
USS Academy opened its doors in 2008. Since then, more than 29,000 Floridians have trained here and stepped away with the Florida Concealed Weapons Permit certificate in hand. That volume is the largest of any Orlando-area firearms academy.
We are Central Florida's original, continuously-operating firearms academy. Many of the other Orlando CWP providers visible on Google today opened after we were already years into operation. We are not the newcomer in this market — we are the academy the newcomers quote.
Our identity is simple: we have trained more people, across more years, with more operational backbone than any other Orlando academy. The CWP Blueprint™ is the program we built around that experience.
Why USS Academy for Your CWP
Three facts are unusual about a Central Florida CWP class. USS Academy checks all three: we have been teaching firearms in this region for 17+ years, our instructors carry Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor credentials plus USMC credentials, and we are backed by an actively deployed Florida Class B licensed security agency with 280+ officers in the field.
No other Orlando CWP class combines these three. Most are gun stores with a classroom. Some are single-instructor operations. A few are legitimate academies but without the agency integration. USS Academy is structurally unique.
That structure shows up in the CWP class itself. Your Florida Statute 790 coverage is taught with real case citations. Your Statute 776 (Stand Your Ground, Castle Doctrine) material is delivered in plain English with actual scenario framing. Your live-fire qualification is supervised by instructors who supervise armed officers professionally, not just on teaching weekends.

Florida CWP Requirements
You must be 21 or older (18 with qualifying military service), a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, legally able to possess a firearm, and able to demonstrate competency through a certified training course with live-fire.
Florida is now a permitless-carry state. The CWP is still strongly recommended because it provides reciprocity with 37+ other states, satisfies the federal NICS background check at point of purchase, provides specific legal exemptions (school pickup vehicle carry, etc.), and demonstrates completed training — a material factor in self-defense legal outcomes.
