USS Academy has been the state of Florida's go-to firearms training academy since 1997. What began as a single concealed carry class has grown into the most complete civilian gun training curriculum in the southeastern United States — six tiers covering beginner handling through professional instructor certification, with every class taught in person by a certified instructor on a real range. 29,000 students have trained through USS Academy programs over 27 years.

Our gun training classes are structured so every student, regardless of starting experience, has a clear path. Beginners start at Tier 1 with foundational safety and handling. CWP applicants take the Tier 1 concealed carry class and leave with a state-approved certificate the same day. Intermediate and advanced students move through Tiers 2 through 5 covering defensive shooting, tactical training, precision marksmanship, and night vision operations. Future instructors enroll in Tier 6 for professional development.

Six-Tier Program Structure

Every course in the curriculum is designed by instructors with credentials from the U.S. Marine Corps, NRA, USCCA, Florida Class K License, and Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor programs.

Training Available Across Florida

USS Academy operates from a network of partner ranges across Florida. Our primary training location is 595 Donovan Crews Road, Saint Cloud, FL 34773, serving the Central Florida corridor. Additional partner ranges across Tampa Bay, Northeast Florida, Northwest Florida, South Florida, and the Space Coast activate seasonally based on demand.

Credentialed Professionals, Real Operational Experience

Every USS Academy class is led by an instructor with verifiable credentials. Our roster includes active and retired law enforcement officers, United States Marine Corps veterans, NRA-certified range safety officers and instructors, USCCA-certified instructors, and Florida K License holders. This is not a roster of internet-certified hobbyists. Every instructor has operational field experience backing up the credential.

Classes are structured to maximize student learning. Instructor-to-student ratios are capped based on the course type. Every range session has supervision at every firing position. Every classroom session is interactive and structured around a proven teaching methodology refined over 27 years and 29,000+ students.

Operating Standards That Define the Program

USS Academy has built its reputation on one principle: you do not learn to handle a firearm from a book or a video. You learn by handling the firearm, under instruction, on a range, with an instructor who knows what you are doing right and wrong.
